Growing Kayamandi tourism enterprises

Through a joint effort of Kayamandi based entrepreneurs, two cycling tours were recently hosted by Kayamandi Creative District (KCD)  for international youth travellers, consisting of respectively 22 and 24 participants.  KCD is a tourism focussed social enterprise started by local NGO, SEED.  Originally aimed at art, the business has evolved into an afrocentric excursion marketing service.
The tourists were part of a South African Students Travel Service (SASTS) tour and programme manager Nariman Bohardien joined the group on Friday 21 July as they set off for a tour of Stellenbosch and surrounds, from the Stellenbosch Wine Routes offices.
KCD Cycling is managed by owner Luxolo Kopeshe and is based at the Stellenbosch Wine Routes office at 47 Church Street.
Well known local tour guide Vuyo Ngijima led the tour, together with Luxolo Kopeshe.  Local owner-drivers Bongani Stamp and Loyiso Mbambo (Roots) offered logistical support services.
KCD offers three types of excursions including walking tours, cycling tours and overnight stays in the Township.  KCD is set up to support local tourism enterprises and to create a network of business activities in and around Kayamandi.
