Career day held for Vision AfriKa matrics
Vision AfriKa’s Grade 12 learners recently attended a career guidance day, aimed at opening their eyes to the many options open to them post matriculation.
The edutainment camp, which was held in the middle of February at the Simonsberg Christian Centre, provided students with educational sessions – with some fun and games thrown in.
Students were walked through the application process for a range of higher education establishments on a step-by-step basis. They were also able to visit a range of stalls, which included information about the different organisations.
Learners shared their experiences of the career guidance day:
Yonela Dodi – “I have always thought that university was the only place to study after matric. I’d never considered other options such as Technical Vocational Education and Training, but I will now.”
Indiphile Shubani – “After hearing about the advantages and disadvantages of taking a gap year, I’m now considering it as I’m not sure which career to follow at the moment.”
Yamkela Magxwalisa – “Following our career guidance session, I’ve learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of lots of different options post matric, which should help me to make a better decision about what I really want to do in future.”
